Weddings
Introduction
As Christians, we believe marriage is a gift from God. So, getting married is perhaps one of the biggest and most important decisions a person can make in their lives. With that in mind, we would love to be part of this momentous decision and for you to get married her at Christ Church, Willaston in Wirral!
FAQ about Weddings
Why get married in church?
Also, if you get married in church, you can invite as many people as you want to the service, to see you actually getting married. You are not restricted to how many people you are inviting, as perhaps in other venues like a registry office or an hotel. Therefore a church wedding is more inclusive.
What can we include in the service?
There is lots of flexibility in the form of service and with the actual words used, and our clergy will talk you through what you can include, again this is something that perhaps would not be available at a registry office wedding. You can also include other people in the service too. In amongst all the choice, it is important that you include a Bible reading and prayers.
What about music?
Talk through your wishes with our clergy as there is a lot of choice. You can have an organ, a choir, soloists, a string quartet or a band! You could even opt to have a favourite song played through our sound system if you wish!
Do we need to live in Willaston to get married at Christ Church?
No, not necessarily – come and speak to our clergy and they will take you through the options.
What about the legal stuff?
What about Banns?
Banns are a way of telling people you are getting married. Our clergy will explain to you what they are and what you need to do when they meet with you.
What if one of us has been divorced?
All are welcome to get married at Christ Church. We will need to ask you a couple of questions and see proof of your divorce, but marrying a couple where one or both parties have been married before, isn’t an issue.
How much does it cost?
The cost of a church wedding will depend on how lavish or simple you want your ceremony to be. The church part of a wedding day is often one of the least expensive things, but expect to pay around £600 – £700.
What about photos?
Of course photos can be taken during the service, but again, our clergy will explain all this to you when you meet with them.
We hope the above information is useful to you as you contemplate your wedding arrangements – do please arrange to meet with one of our clergy for a no – obligation discussion about your wedding ceremony at Christ Church.
